Autumn Leaves - Miles Davis

I do not own, or claim any rights to the audio track to this video. The music is "Autumn Leaves" By Miles Davis I know the video and audio transitions are really rough. I'm just experimenting with the video and time lapse capabilities of my D600, while learning the bare basics of video editing. The video is rough, but hopefully you can see the quality that the D600 can produce. Taken with vario...

The video quality of this is low, because my internet is powered by hamsters running in a wheel. Getting better acquainted with the capabilities of the camera, still a few kinks to work out with my video editing.
Graflex RB Super D 4x5 SLR Camera
Просмотров 9 тыс.11 лет назад
I decided to make a video on my Super D. It's my first video, so it's not perfect, but there you go. Photos taken with the camera: www.flickr.com/search/?w=30767964@N02&q=super d
The viewing window on the back is a problem (to allow winding on to the next frame). It leaks light with modern film. You need to cover it, or add darker glass or plastic. Otherwise nice camera.
Very nice!
I had this issue last weekend due to what I believe is the cold weather - it's not great but I reached out Lomography to draw attention to the issue. I'm following up with a link to this video - good catch
It also happened to me in cold weather as well!!! At least the issue is consistent. My guess would be the material has contracted enough that it's not making contact at the end of it's cycle with a switch and possibly adding a spacer or bending out a contact would resolve this, but let me know what they say!
Did anything come from this?
It's confirmed to be a cold weather malfunction, no one really knows why though. No communication from the manufacturer but it's not like they have competition.
Eric thanks for the information . Great tutorial. Is there a version of Graflex Super D that is capable of flash sync ? Simon
The super D can actually sync electronic flash on the last setting. There's a procedure for it I sort of forgot but I tested it to work. It's usable in a studio environment. Basically use the mirror as the capping shutter and flash activation and let the curtain close on it.
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
This video is from 8 years ago and was filmed on a DSLR. The quality is fine and I don't need to do a goddamn thing for you.
Great presentation! I just upoaded a slide show of black and white photos recently taken by me with my Kodak No2 Folding Autographic Brownie from 1924-1926 camera made for roll film 120: ruclips.net/video/MPE0M2BzqQA/видео.html
These are fun cameras. There’s a lot of 5x7 bag mags out there for these at reasonable prices.
Is this the camera that Stieglitz used to take his cloud pictures?
Dream camera
Fun to ride along! Great sound track!
Fun to see! I have a few of the larger, senior Kodak Autographic models, they are quite nicely equipped for consumer cameras. One of them had an owners name and address in it, so I found on google maps, the street shot of the owners apartment building, and also his death notice in the 1950’s, which added a personal touch. If they could talk, what stories could these old cameras tell?! Thanks as usual for a nice video tour!
I have the older Model B RB that I finally got a lens for. Am anxious to give it a go! What great cool cameras...... especially for their age. Thanks for a nice tour of your newer version!
what lens you use to take this clip? looks little swirls on background
Wooo www !!
any sample photos?
A beautiful camera, and nicely presented. Very good video.
Thanks for info! I am selling my Graphic collection 50 yrs ago. The Compact Graphic going is 3&1/4 X 5 &1/2 format. Keeping my pofessional Stereo Graphic that I got from my friend the used in in 1930s.
God, I wish these weren't 600-1000 dollars on the vintage market. I saw some 4x5 Graflex SLR (earlier than this one, with a rather brittle hood) at an antique store once and the guy basically told me to make an offer (he alluded to 50-100 dollars), but I didn't know how to test it and I hadn't been paid that week. I've been kicking myself when I think of that missed opportunity.
I have a working model. Only used it once as it would be worth more as a working camera
The focus distances are feet on the left and metres on the right, not ranges between the numbers
Too bad you have not followed up on this video series. I was really hoping to hear more on this. Please share an update if you still have the camera. I have on that is in killer shape, but dont know how to use it. I was looking for hints. Thanks
Same!
You got my style of videography! One take does it all.
Did you ever restore it?
Great video! I'll soon be getting the same camera, so it's great to see a video explaining all the features. Question, what tripod head are you using? I'm wondering if the one I have will be sturdy enough. I have a Manfrotto ball head, and a pretty sturdy manfrotto tripod.
Hi,I have a 5X7 compact just like the one in your video but different lens. I'd love to get it working. Do you know anyone in the NC area that works on these? My mother had a child portrait business in the 40's and the camera was hers. Things seem to work but I don't think the screen in the rear moves. Also mech. sounds sluggish as in needing cleaning and lube.Appreciate any help you can provide,Thanks,Paul
How do you date these? I have one from my lat father's collection I'm thinking of moving along to another, more loving home. But my thought for it is to use a lens with a leaf shutter and just lock the curtain open. The curtain is what seems to be the trouble, weak springs, wrinkled fabric, etc. so it doesn't move smoothly. Otherwise works fine.
Hello, I also have the same question....where did you send it for service? I have a Series D and am looking for some service.
Unfortunately the gentleman I used to use is no longer taking on any more work, so I am looking into doing future work myself.
where did you send it for service mate?
Unfortunately the gentleman I used to use is no longer taking on any more work, so I am looking into doing future work myself.
I have one but the it is stuck and I cannot get it to extend out. Any advice? thanks.
Why is it stuck? Are the bellows dried out? Otherwise you can lubricate the rails that it slides out on
What happened to your videos?
Burnt out by life
thank you, nice video
So you get full coverage with the Pentac on 5x7?
+Brandon Montz Yep! Full coverage with minor vignette at infinity, AND it just barely reaches infinity. The compact has a bit smaller mirror box than all the other Graflex 5x7s
I have a 5x7 press graflex but I haven't mounted my Pentac on it yet. Was going to try my AE first but who knows. I am assuming I should still get full coverage with my two lenses even with the camera not being a compact.
The AE will not reach infinity on even a 4x5 SLR, but should be good for portrait work.
Hi,Excellent video.I just want to know what lenses you used to build the magnifying glass ?Best regards,Philippe
Random close up lenses I found in a box of camera stuff
Thanks, very interesting ... I'd never heard of this model before.
116/616 film is 70mm wide without perforations. Ilford sent me a 50foot roll. I bought one old roll of 116 and got good paper backing and a spool. Now rolling my own is possible. The film is developed easily on Patterson reels. The tube has videos about that by me and another guy. AND I sent a camera away to have new bellows installed. Don't give up on old cameras. They are so cool! My wife has thousands of 116 negatives for me to scan. They are from 1910-11
I've just picked one up in a local charity shop. I am going to clean it up and use it for display. One issue is, I cant figure out how you close it down into the box. I bought it extended and open from the shop and the girl there clearly had no idea how to move it back into the interior and close the camera down. Any tips?
+CmdrBondUK If you look on the left side of the camera, there is a set of numbers for preset focus distances. next to that is a small latch which you need to manipulate to slide the bellows into the collapsed position. once fully collapsed, you can press on the bed struts to close the front.
i have one thats in almost pristine condition for its age, the only problems with it that I can see are: my shutter just stays on T which I guess means tripod? Although I have read it also means Time. The aperture moves rather good for its age. I am sure there are some pinholes at the corners of the bellows. I wonder if the below can replaced? The viewfinder glass is pushed in and can't get it to come foward, Other than that this camera is pretty good condition. I think the lens could use a cleaning, the front part of the lens looks good but the back either has haze or some light funugs or some dirt, i am not sure what it is.
Time is for taking night pics
I HAVE THIS CAMERA AND MY UNCLE HAD IT BACK IN THE 30'S AND 40'S DURING WW2. THE PICTURES ARE GREAT AND I STILL HAVE THE NEGATIVES ALSO.
Many thanks. I have just got a RB Graflex Series C and you have definitely got me pointed in the right direction.
Eric what type of oil did you put on the focusing chimney leather? I want to put the same on mine. Thanks Gerry
Gerry Yaum Neetsfoot!
Thanks very much Arlando..I will try your loupe trick with the Graflex Super D I just bought..Gerry www.gerryyaum.blogspot.com
+Gerry Yaum HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR YOUR CAMERA.
Very cool to see a working example of one of these out in the wild. Thanks for sharing.
never realized this huge 4x5 focal plane shutter is so ingeniously designed in a way similar to scanner backs. good video.
cool video
Carson CF-10 1.5x Clip & Flip Magnifying Lenses $4.21 B&H # CACF10
Hey man nice video. Here's a little idea for a great bifocal chimney loupe.... Get yourself one of those eyeglass clip-on magnifiers, reverse the clip and clip them to the top edge of the hood. Works amazing! Here's a link to the one I use:
Nice, you've got a door chime inside for when you pop the focusing hood. Very creative.
who did your CLA.. I've got an earlier model that is similar in looks but there's no lens shade function for this model. The protective cover flips up 180 degrees not 90 like yours
